ACTIVE ENERGY RAY CURABLE AQUEOUS INK COMPOSITION, AND INKJET RECORDING METHOD, INK CARTRIDGE, RECORDING UNIT, AND INKJET RECORDING APPARATUS USING THE SAME Claims

1. An active energy ray curable aqueous ink composition comprising at least water, a polymerizable substance which undergoes radical polymerization by an active energy ray, and a polymerization initiator which generates radicals by an active energy ray,wherein the polymerizable substance is a water-soluble compound having 2 to 6 (meth)acrylic groups, and the polymerization initiator is a water-soluble acylphosphine oxide compound,wherein the polymerizable substance is a water-soluble (meth)acrylate compound represented by the following general formula (1): ##STR00014## wherein Z represents a residue of a polyol or an epoxy ester of a polyol having (x1+y1) hydroxyl groups, x1 represents an integer of 0 to 2, y1 represents an integer of 2 to 6, and x1+y1 represents an integer of 2 to 6, R.sub.1 each independently represent a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, and R.sub.2 each independently represent an atomic group A represented by the following formula: ##STR00015## wherein R.sub.3 each independently represent a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, m1 represents an integer of 1 to 5, and n1 represents 0 or 1, andwherein the polymerization initiator is a nonionic or anionic water-soluble acylphosphine oxide compound represented by the following general formula (2): ##STR00016## wherein R.sub.4 represents an alkyl group or a phenyl group, R.sub.5 represents an alkyloxy group or a phenyl group, and R.sub.6 represents an atomic group B represented by the following formula: ##STR00017## wherein R.sub.7 represents --[CH.sub.2].sub.x2-- (x2 represents 0 or 1) or a phenylene group, m2 represents an integer of 0 to 10, n2 represents 0 or 1, and R.sub.8 represents a hydrogen atom, a sulfonic group, a carboxyl group, a hydroxyl group, or a salt thereof,wherein the content of the water is 40 to 90% by mass with respect to the total amount of the active energy ray curable aqueous ink composition, andwherein the active energy ray curable aqueous ink composition is used for inkjet recording.

4. An active energy ray curable aqueous ink composition according to claim 1, further comprising a coloring material.

An active energy ray curable aqueous ink composition according to claim 1, further comprising as another polymerization initiator at least one compound selected from the group consisting of compounds represented by the following general formulae (3) to (5): ##STR00018## wherein m3 represents an integer of 1 or more, n3 represents an integer of 0 or more, and m3+n3 represents an integer of 1 to 8; ##STR00019## wherein R.sub.12 and R.sub.13 each independently represent a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group, and m4 represents an integer of 5 to 10; ##STR00020## wherein R.sub.12 and R.sub.13 each independently represent a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group, R.sub.14 represents --[CH.sub.2].sub.x3-- (x3 represents 0 or 1), --O--[CH.sub.2].sub.y3-- (y3 represents 1 or 2), or a substituted or unsubstituted phenylene group, and M represents a hydrogen atom or an alkali metal.

6. An active energy ray curable aqueous ink composition according to claim 1, further comprising at least one solvent selected from the group consisting of glycerin, ethylene glycol, and diethylene glycol.

10. An inkjet recording method comprising the steps of:applying the active energy ray curable aqueous ink composition according to claim 1 to a recording medium by using an inkjet system; andcuring the active energy ray curable aqueous ink composition by irradiating the recording medium applied with the active energy ray curable aqueous ink composition with an active energy ray.

11. An inkjet recording method according to claim 10, wherein the active energy ray curable aqueous ink composition is applied on the recording medium by applying thermal energy to the active energy ray curable aqueous ink composition.

12. An ink cartridge comprising an ink container containing the active energy ray curable aqueous ink composition according to claim 1.

13. A recording unit comprising an ink container containing the active energy ray curable aqueous ink composition according to claim 1, and a recording head for discharging the active energy ray curable aqueous ink composition.

14. An inkjet recording apparatus comprising:means for applying the active energy ray curable aqueous ink composition according to claim 1 to a recording medium; andmeans for irradiating the active energy ray curable aqueous ink composition applied on the recording medium with an active energy ray.

15. An inkjet recording apparatus according to claim 14, wherein the means for irradiating the active energy ray comprises an ultraviolet irradiation lamp having a light source of a wavelength of 450 nm or less, and the ultraviolet irradiation lamp has an intensity of an ultraviolet region in a range of 500 to 5,000 mW/cm.sup.2.

16. An active energy ray curable aqueous ink composition according to claim 1, wherein the polymerizable substance is contained in the ink in a content of 1% to 30% by mass with respect to the total amount of the ink.

17. An active energy ray curable aqueous ink composition according to claim 16, wherein the polymerization initiator is contained in the ink in a content of 0.1% to 7% by mass with respect to the total amount of the ink.
